Q: Why should I hire a professional mover?
A: Hiring a professional mover delivers exceptional value on a day that can be otherwise very stressful. Moving can be both emotionally and physically draining, and handling delicate or bulky items with care requires specific moving skills. We highly recommend turning to professionals for this, as you would for many of your households needs such as plumbing and electricity. With years of experience from residential to commercial moving, our crews of highly trained movers can tackle moves of any size or complexity. We treat every move with the personal care that you would expect from friends and family. However, unlike friends and family, we guarantee satisfaction.
Q: Do I need an estimate?
A: Usually, we will be able to give you a good idea of a price range over the phone after getting some information about the items being moved, the size of the current location, etc. Please mention any other big items such as piano, organ, deep freeze, etc.
Q: How much will my move cost?
A: We base an estimate for our services on an hourly rate, which includes the drive time for each leg of the move: from the moving company to your original home, then to your destination, and back again to the moving company.
Q: How is the cost determined for my move?
A: Movin’ On Out, Inc. charges a one-time service fee of $25 and then an hourly rate. We have NO hidden fees.
Q: How can I keep costs down during my move?
A: Keep in mind that moving is not an exact science and that each move is different. But, a good way to keep costs down is to be as prepared as possible when the movers arrive to cut down on any unnecessary time. Moving boxes is one of the most time consuming areas of a move, yet are some of the lightest things to move. So, try to use the same size boxes and be sure they are taped up and labeled correctly for the movers. Stack them up, so the movers can just place them on the dolly and go. Also, while the movers will be happy to do so, disassembly of furniture takes up time as well. You can try to disassemble any beds, desks, etc. to cut down on time. In short, anything you can do yourself or anything that can help the movers move faster will cut down on your cost.
Q: Are there any unexpected costs I should be aware of?
A: NO! Movin’ on Out, Inc. has absolutely NO hidden fees! While we do have some fees for moving pianos, gun safes and off hours fees. You will be made aware of any of these fees prior to your move.
Q: Is moving labor the only moving expense I should expect?
A: Moving labor represents the majority of the moving expense. However, you should also budget for packing supplies, such as moving boxes as needed. Take special precautions with delicate or over-sized items, such as flat screen televisions and computers.
Q: How accurate will the moving estimate be?
A: With years of experience, we pride ourselves on providing the most accurate moving estimates in the area. Our system ensures that we work closely with every customer to fully understand his/her moving needs and to provide a moving estimate that reflects those needs. Be sure to offer as much information as possible at the time of the estimate this includes reviewing the inventory for accuracy. Neglecting to mention additional items, or difficult areas of access (3rd floor) at the time of the moving estimate can result in adjusted estimates.
Q: Should I tip my movers?
A: As with other service industries, you may wish to thank your movers for a job well done by offering a gratuity. While the movers do not expect a set amount, we suggest a tip based on your satisfaction with your crew and the overall move. If you feel that your movers went above and beyond in their efforts, you may want to increase the amount accordingly.
Q: What if I have items that I want to get rid of or don’t have room for at my new location?
A: Movin’ on Out, Inc. accepts unwanted or unneeded, but usable household items and we work with a few local charities and organizations that could benefit from those items. To save time we recommend that you tell us about them upfront so we can arrange for that. Letting us know about this upfront will cut your costs because we remove these items free of charge.
Q: How do I pay?
A: Although credit is the preferred method of payment, cash and check are accepted.
